School Council Visit to the Town Hall17 March 2026 (by Meg Wrigley (mwrigley@thecct.uk)) |
Children from 7 of our primary schools, part of the Collective Community Trust, had the exciting opportunity to visit Bury Town Hall, exploring the historic building and learning about its role in local government. During the tour children were guided through the historic chambers, council offices and public meeting spaces. The children who are all members of their School Councils and Pupil Leadership Teams had the opportunity to meet the Mayor of Bury, Councillor Bayley, who gave them a tour of the Mayor’s parlour. They also took part in a debate in the council chamber overseen by the Mayor himself!
Due to the success of the day, all the schools are keen to hold an annual event where their school council members come together to share ideas and improve their school communities.
