17 March 2026 (by Meg Wrigley (mwrigley@thecct.uk))

The Collective Community Trust Primary Schools Celebrate the Success of their first Inter-School Football Tournament.

The Collective Community Trust is thrilled to announce the successful conclusion of its first, Inter-School Football Tournament held across its primary schools. The highly anticipated tournament brought together young athletes from all seven schools within the trust, fostering teamwork, sportsmanship and a love of the game.

A Celebration of Talent and Team Spirit

The tournament featured 7 teams competing in a series of exciting matches, culminating in a thrilling final hosted at Goshen  in Bury. Children, staff and families gathered to cheer on players, creating an atmosphere of unity and celebration. Heaton Park emerged victorious, claiming the championship trophy after a hard-fought match against Ribble Drive.

Quotes from Participants:

  • Quote from a member of staff ‘It’s been lovely to come together as a family of schools and see such great sportsmanship from the children”
  • Quote from Kelly Macadam Trust CEO 'This tournament showcased the incredible talent and sportsmanship of our children. It was a joy to see them all together and a huge thanks to Mr Moran, the PE Lead from Woodbank Primary School and all the staff involved for organising such a great first event, we are looking forward to more like this in the future!”

Building Community Through Sports

The Inter-School Football Tournament not only highlighted the athletic abilities of the children but also strengthened the bonds between schools within the trust. Following the success of this event, The Collective Community Trust plans to make the tournament an annual tradition.

A huge thanks from the Trust Schools also goes to Foundation 92, the community charity of Salford City Football club, who attended the tournament and have kindly offered free tickets to the winning team to watch Salford City v Oldham Athletic on Saturday 18th October.
